I was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. By growing up as the oldest child, it became natural for me to take care and help others. While in middle school and high school, I went on a couple of mission trips in which we worked with children. The mission trip that had the greatest impact on me was my trip to Ukraine. We worked at a camp that was provided for children in foster care or who did not have families. This trip made me realize that I wanted to work with children. By pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphases in Human Development & Family Studies and Psychology, I believe I will have a more comprehensive understanding of individuals and family structure and be able to help children grow in appropriate manners depending on developmental stages.
